Beginning Violins I is designed for kids in grades 3-5 whose schools don’t offer string classes, homeschoolers, or any other child who wants to have fun learning the violin from the very beginning. Students will learn proper instrument care, positioning, and music reading.
Beginning Violins II is a continuation of Beginning Violins I, so students must have completed the first session or have previous playing experience. The following skills are a pre-requisite for this course: can independently hold the instrument; read all open strings of the staff and play them in half, quarter, and eighth notes both pizzicato and bowed; play notes A, B, C#, and D on the A string.
The viola looks and plays like a violin, but has a deeper voice like a cello. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to join a viola-only group class and learn the instrument from the very beginning. Designed for kids in grades 3-5 with no violin or viola experience, students will learn to read alto clef as well as the basics of instrument care, proper positioning, beginning playing technique, and performance skills.
