Irish Fiddle

What to Expect

Students will learn traditional Irish tunes (airs, reels, jigs, and slip jigs) along with ornamentation and improvisational skills.  Students will also learn about the Irish culture and music from an instructor who studied there!

This 6 – week class meets during the following dates:

Session 1: January 21 – February 25

Class meets 2:00 – 2:45 PM on Saturday afternoons.

Registration deadline is January 14.

Session 2: April 15 – May 20

Class meets 2:00 – 2:45 PM Saturday afternoons.

Registration deadline is April 10.

Students in this class will learn:

  • airs
  • reels
  • jigs & slip jigs
  • will be encouraged to find their own voice through the use of ornamentation

Is Irish Fiddle right for you?

This class is for current violin students interested in Irish music and fiddle techniques.  Students must be able to play in the keys of G-major, e-minor, D-major, d-minor, A-major, and a-minor.  Per the Irish tradition where adults and kids play together, there is no age limit for this class.
